Here is the story of my trip!! We head out for Indiana with our 16 year old driving. We have a diesel van that we drive so this a little bit funny. Well any way Larry was driving and I was looking out the side mirror and I could see this fog behind us. So I was watching in the mirror some more only to see our van smoking like a frieght train. Well a few people on their way pass us tried telling my son that he was smoking. One person actually flipped him off cuz the van was smoking so bad. My hubby was laying in the back seat sleeping or trying too. He couldn't firgure out why we were talking about it fogging so bad. So we got 2 hours down the road and my hubby decided he would drive to see what we were talking about. Then he saw the fog it leaving behind us. some guy passed him and gave him the okay sign. A short bit little another guy passed by us holding his nose and pointing to the side. That one made us laugh. So then we pulled into a rest to fix the problem. What had happened was Larry had hooked the EGR to the Direct Vaccum source which in turn made our van smoke like a frieght train. For those of you who are not sure what I am talking about i'll explain why it was smoking like that. The reason it was smoking like that was because it was openning the EGR valve, which was dumping the exhaust into the intake and it didn't have enough oxygen to burn the fuel. So that is why it was smoking like a freight train actually it was worse then a freight train. Thank goodness my hubby knew what to do to fix it. Kinda funny that Larry made it smoke. We teased him about it for a bit and his comment was shove it. So if you want your diesel to smoke like a frieght train we'll let our son Larry work on it for ya. LOL!! We made it to the race track Friday morning about 10am and got inside to go walk around and find my friend Libby and her hubby Bill. It was so much fun to meet my internet buddy Libby in person for the first. We had a great time together!! I will post the picture of the two us later after I get it scanned. We watch second round qualifying then we went over to turn 4 and watched happy hour. And the Iroc race too!! That was the first time I have attend the Iroc race and it was awesome!! Jeff did a great job in that race. Then we left the race track and getting out of there that day was wosre then the next day!! We got up late Saturday morning due to the fact that our motel forgot to give us our wake up call at 4am. Thank goodness I had set the alarm clock that they had in the room or we might have missed the race all together. We got the track around 6:15am and parked. We then got everything out to grill breakfast. After breakfast my hubby dediced it was nap time for him so he went in the van and laid down for a nap. The boys and I went for a long walk just to go buy shirts and things. When we got back we woke hubby up and the boys put on thier new racing shirts. Hubby was in his DW shirt, Larry was in his Bobby Labonte shirt, Randy, Malcolm, and I were in our Jeff Gordon shirts!! We all then headed for the track. We all sat in turn one with my internet friends Libby and Bill. It was great we almost in the very top seats. Libby and I couldn't believe it our guy got caught up the wreck on alp fifteen. So then I was cheering for DW and hoping he would pull off the win. But that didn't happen, instead our son Larry's favorite driver Bobby Labonte won the race. It was funny after the race because people were giving him high fives and he was embrassed. He is a little shy sometimes. After the race was over we went to the garage area and much to my surpise there was Jeff Burton and Kim Burton getting into a white so I snapped a few pics of them, then we saw DW and Stevie and I snapped a few pics of them too. After that we saw Kyle Petty and Steve Park so I took a few pics of them too. I just hope they turn out. I'll post those pics later after I get them scanned. Then it started sprinkling on us so we decided it was time to head back to the parking lot where our van was at and grill supper. For supper we had pork chops, tomato slices, and fried potatoes!! It rained on us while we were cooking but we sat there thru cuz it was a light rain. Then just as we got done grilling a heavy rain came thru. We got everything packed and were ready to go. We watched the traffic leaving and it was finally moving at a good pace so we pulled out too. It was much easier getting out of there that day then it was the day before. Sorry it took me so long to tell you my story but I do hope that you enjoyed it.
