Green starts from rear after wreck
Jeff Green will be forced to use a back-up car at Dover Downs this weekend.
In the midst of the most dominating season in NASCAR Busch Series history, Jeff Green has a foggy recollection of what bad luck is -- and how bad it hurts. Dover Downs International Speedway served him a rude reminder Friday afternoon.
Green, the NASCAR Busch Series points leader by more than 600 points, continued his dominating ways in Bud Pole Qualifying, placing the No. 10 NesQuik Chevrolet on the outside of the front row for Saturday's MBNA Platinum 250 at the one-mile oval.
Then, the vaunted concrete confines reached out and handed him a major helping of lousy luck.
With some 20 minutes remaining in Happy Hour practice, Green got tangled with Blaise Alexander, shoving him into the wall and totaling his ride. He was forced into a backup, and thus will start the race at the rear of the field for the first time all year. His previous-worst start? Dover, back in June.
Overall, Green has started outside the top-20 just three times. He leads the series with seven Bud Poles, and has started among the top-5 14 times.
I AM very thankful that NO ONE was hurt!!
