What did you think of the broadcast? For those of you who watched practice!

Well Martin,

I really am gonna wait til they do their first race, since you can't really tell by one telecast but....

did they have to keep going on and on about Dale's death. Yes, it was sad and tragic, but I think the drivers rather talk about something else--and some of them didn't look to happy to talk about it.

I understand that this is their first broadcast, but I didn't think there was any need to keep dwelling on it.

There were a few other things, but that's my main gripe about it.

Richard Childress specifically requested that the reporters NOT ask/talk about Dale's death with the drivers/crew/team. What's the first question they ask him - How is he doing being back at Daytona.  Can't they even give him that!

I really thought the normal race reporters would have some respect for his request.

I've never been to fond of TNT - WAY to many commercials. I'm hoping the race coverage on NBC won't have that problem.

I'll see how they do with the actual race coverage to decide how I like them.

I see we're all in agreement on this one.
That wasn't right!

I read an interesting article recently on how the drivers feel about going back to Daytona and all that mess....and most all of 'em said....'it's tough but so is everything else worth doin' in life'......also 'when someone dies in a car wreck on highway or interstate, those people are missed too......their families grieve too...you just don't hear about them ...etc..'
This is all the media's doing! They are making this harder than it needs to be...and for a whole lot longer than it needs to be.

Rusty said something interesting too....
I can't find the article off hand...but it was to the affect of ....
this is racing....wait til the banquet.....that's going to be hard!
There'll be a lot of tributes that night and a lot of memories being raised up...that's going to be the hardest thing.
not those exact words but something like that.
He's right.

I hope tomorrow night isn't full of this mess!!

Fordlady,

I'm afraid it will be more of the same.

NBC has an hour long pre-show airing at 3 p.m. eastern tomorrow. They already said that they will be doing some stuff about Dale on it.

Then there is their half-hour pre race show at 7:30, before the race at 8.

So chances are good that there will be more, which is really sad.

And I don't even want to think about what may happen at the banquet.

And one other thing....

Tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of Kenny Irwin's death. No mention of him at all on the broadcasts.

It would be nice if they let it go and let some other drivers talk about different things but that is life I guess

I could be wrong but I thought Kenny was killed one month after Adam...?!
I know Adam died on May 12th...and I swore that Kenny died one month and like maybe one day after.
Not that it makes it any less important....just curious.

This is the weekend of his death, fordlady.

The only mention I heard was during that show at 3, where they said Sterling would like to win for his teammate. So far, during this commercial fest, they haven't mentioned it.

Maybe what threw you was the schedule. The pushed back N.H. and moved Chicago in it's spot.

Kyle has stated that he is not sure if he will go to N.H. later on this month.
