CNN/SI to Be Home for Qualifying and Happy Hours? Daytona Happy Hour on CNN/SI
MotorsportsTV.com writer Sam Cook reports that CNN/SI TV had the following tag line when running down the lineup for the weekend: "CNN/SI and TNT will be your home for Qualifying and Happy Hour for the rest of the season." I have yet to get confirmation of exactly what this means, but this may be an indication that CNN/SI is picking up most of the Winston Cup Qualifying and Happy Hours not covered by TNT. The only other known candidate is the NASCAR Channel on Speedvision.

Also, as of Tuesday morning, Sam reports that CNN/SI is now promoting coverage of Happy Hour from Daytona at 8:00 p.m. this Friday night. (7/3)

CNN/SI's "NASCAR Plus" to Have Special Wednesday Show

Sam Cook also reports that CNN/SI will have a special extra edition of NASCAR Plus at 6:30 p.m and 8:30 p.m. this Wednesday, July 4, with four repeats the next day. From the preview, it will be similar to the Inside Winston Cup Racing show, focusing on #3 with Michael Waltrip, Rusty Wallace, Steve Park, and Ken Schrader. (7/3)

Coming Soon? More Qualifying and Happy Hour Coverage
The most common question from Winston Cup fans about TV right now is what will happen to qualifying and Happy Hour coverage. TNT is scheduled to broadcast only a handful of these events. There are no specifics available, but there are numerous reports that NASCAR and the networks are working on finalizing something now that will put qualifying and Happy Hour coverage on TV for most second half events.
