YOU ALL DON'T HAVE A CLUE AS TO HOW HAPPY I AM....
I am so glad there are no more races on FX this season!
I am hoping that for next season they don't do that again...Trackrat and I missed out on so much because of it....and I'm sure they lost a lot of money over it too.

I am so happy I can cry!

But will ya feel the same way if NBC/TNT/TBS don't cover Qualifying & Happy Hour?

For the Pepsi 400 I can find qualifying on TNT
But so far I can't find anybody showing Happy Hour
I consider that missing a lot!

And in Houston - the #11 market - they get the Pepsi 400 TAPE DELAYED so the local NBC station can show the Miss Texas Scholarship Pagent - bet they L O V E that

Fordlady, I know you are happy cause you'll get to see the bgn races, but from what I've been reading it's not looking good for NBC/TNT. I've read that they will rarely show Happy Hour or Qualifying coverage. Maybe just for a select few 'big' races.

I know, people can say--at least we can see the races--but still I would like to see the other stuff that goes with it. At least with FOX and their affiliates we saw ALL qualifying and Happy Hours-even if they were delayed.

Here's an interesting article I saw at another board that you may be interested in...

Pop princess Britney Spears will tell the racers at the Pepsi 400 at Daytona to start their engines that Saturday night, but the NBC theme is a "rejiggered" version of Metallica's "Fuel for Fire," which hits the appropriate rock 'n' roll note.

NBC will put new spins on the same technology employed by FOX and developed by FOX, NBC and NASCAR during the preseason. The cameras at the corners of the tracks will pan more to take advantage of "nice big lenses" in an effort to translate the speed of the cars.

The satellite tracking of the cars will morph into a graphic chip that appears above the roof of a car to show in real time how the car's progress around the track compares with the pole sitter's qualifying time.

Among the most dramatic differences will be the pre-race show. FOX carted a set--dubbed "the Hollywood Hotel,"--from track to track.

NBC and TNT will use pre-race activity along pit row as the backddrop for their show, which will be hosted by Bill Weber, who also will be the lead pit reporter during the races.

The race-announcing teams will be led by play-by-play man Allen Bestwick, known as the voice of NASCAR, analyst Benny Parsons and racer Wally Dallenbach. Reporting from the pit along with Mr. Weber will be Marty Snider, Dave Burns and Matt Yocum.

Turner Sports has commissioned some pieces on NASCAR legends from longtime CNN Sports journalist Jim Huber and also has tapped Liz Allison, widow of racer Davey Allison, to contribute features to TNT's telecasts, which begin July 5 with qualifying for the Pepsi 400.

1. #11 market Houston, TX is getting the Pepsi 400 taped delayed so the local NBC station can show the Miss Texas Scholarship Pagent.

2. I checked my TV books for next week - Pepsi 400 Qualifying will be on TNT - BUT I could find NO LISTING for Happy Hour.

3. Chicago 1st race on the track - Don't see qualifying or happy hour listed in the Directv book for July.

4. Loudon - Happy Hour but no qualifying listed

5. Pocono - Happy Hour but no qualifying listed

If the above holds true - I'm NOT impressed! Granted I get FOX & FX and many don't so they couldn't see Qualifying and/or Happy Hour for every race. But to me I'm out 3 rounds of qualifying and 2 Happy Hours in just the month of July.

All I can say is "WE'LL SEE"

I really wonder if they are really committed. TNT has the Goodwill games during the end of August, first part of September. And NBC is contracted to Notre Dame football, and of course that will take presidence.

I've been seeing the ads during the braves games, but ads aren't going to mean much if they don't show happy hour and qualifying. And I'm going to hate to depend on RaceCast for qualifying. :(

Yeah....I hear ya LBF....but we don't get to see a whole lot of that stuff now.
Sometimes we forget it's on and then other times.....we just don't get it here......I can live with that.....but not without the races themselves!
I usually do qualifying on NOL when they do the live timing and scoring thingamabob......it's not so bad...but I surely don't want to watch a race on there.

I would say fox is the best aslong as we make a trade Benny Parsons for Darrell (sp) Waltrip. I cannot stand DW In 10 years that I can remember watching races I neverheard bp sing, never heard bp root on his brother in a busch race or a cup race. I wish they would go back to the old way of broadcasting because Benny Parsons And Bob Jenkins are the best! Notice I left out Ned Jarrett. I don't like him either.;)

Thow DW out and keep FOX for the whole season than I would be happy.
As for Qualifying I shouldn't care about seeing that because my
driver hasn't learned how to qualify yet.
I do like to watch Happy Hour though.

Hmm....guess I'm the only one who likes DW.....I hate it when he sings but he isn't so bad other than that.
Benny Parsons on the other hand...I don't like him at all.
He's a very rude man...a good commentator but a very rude man.

I like to watch the happy hour too.....always have but I don't mind missing qualifying.

I don't mind DW, just when he gets going on a certain driver I tend to tune him out.

Benny, on the other hand, I don't care for.

It seems I'm about the only one who would like to see qualifying. ;) But my thinking is if they were committed they should show the races, qualifying and happy hour like FOX did. Not just whatever they want to show.

I like qualifying too but I am never home to watch it!

I don't have a clue how I missed this post!!
Hope you don't think I was ignoring ya Rumor....I didn't even see this. I'm sorry!
I like the announcing team...Allen is my buddy!
I also like the 'Nascar Legends' bit.....but I'm wondering...what brought all this on? I mean.....why is this year so special that they're gonna start all this new stuff??
NOt that I'm complaining.......that's for sure.
the track cameras thing sounds pretty ok...What do you think about these changes Rumor?

I don't know. FOX did some different things this year that were pretty neat. I guess it's wait and see. I know, I sound cynical about NBC's coverage but I just don't have a good feeling about it. But it could change.

I do wonder about some things, and if they are gonna pull some of the same stuff they did during their first 2 broadcasts.

I just hope the DO NOT superimpose a picture of the driver who is leading or the winner of the race on the track like ESPN does. That's a bit silly, but that's my opinion.

qualifying will be split up between CNN/SI and TNT...TNT
will cover about 1/3 of qualifying, and CNN/SI will pick up
the rest....Happy Hour is still to be determined, but CNN/SI
will cover HH this Friday at 8:00PM EDT....

I don't get CNN/SI, but that's OK, because I don't need
to know where Terry is starting each Sunday, since it's
usually never up front.....
