Ingredients to make a 13x9 pan full...and I do mean full!
1-lb ground beef
1/2-lb bulk sausage
1 jar of your favorite spagetti sauce
1 large box Lasagna noodles (there are only 12 in the small boxes and you will need 16)
1 large tub cottage cheese...the small curd spreads easier
16 ounces of shredded mild cheddar cheese
8 ounces shredded mozzerella
Any chopped veggies that you may like to add (ie mushrooms, onions, peppers) quantity matter just to your taste.
Brown beef and sausage together and drain
cook lasagna noodles 12-15mins...not completely done but close!
In an ungreased 13x9 pan use 4 noodles on the bottom, slightly overlapped, spread some of the spagetti sauce over top (divide jar by portions of four for each layer). Sprinkle meat mixture over that, then spoon cottage cheese and spread around on top of that. Sprinkle both types of shredded cheese and then put 4 more slightly overlapped noodles on top of that and press down hard to make room for more layers. Keep repeating layers until you have run out of room. It is not a good idea to overstack the pan. Your top layer (4th) should have at least some sauce and cheese on it...if you have run out of meat and cottage cheese before getting to that layer dont worry...It will be great anyway! I am kinda sparse with the mozzerella until I get to the top...then watch out!!! Loads on top is great!
Bake at 325 degrees until top is nicely browned, usually about 45-60 minutes.
Cool maybe 15 minutes before eating and enjoy. This is plenty for a hungry household!
