I think it's real cool that Carlos will be in the #43 Petty truck! He's got some real talent and I'm sure he has a great future ahead of him! I became a fan of his last season because of his driving. Hopefully some wins will be in his future! :)

Who is he? And where did he come from?

He drove the #12 Hot Wheels truck last year. Carlos is from Mexico where he drove in a road racing series. I think he also won a couple of championships in that series...oh, here we go...2 time Mustang Cup champion.
They also say that Carlos is somewhat the "lady's man" at the races. I guess them women like the latin lover.
I heard from a woman that saw him race in Milwaukee last year and said that over the scanner he was really trying hard to communicate in English and was doing quite well. She said that the only time he spoke Spanish was when we got real loose and almost lost it...he then broke off into a long string of Spanish. The crew chief said, "What did he say?" and the spotter said with a laugh, "I think he said, 'tight in, loose off'" !! Contreras finished 17th in points last year and 2nd in ROTY with a couple of top 10s. He's also the first Mexican to race in NASCAR if that makes any difference.

I remember seeing him in an interview, and they did have an interpreter, though they said he is trying very hard to learn English.

Congrats to Carlos, I hope he does well. He ran well in some of the races last year.

Did ya hear about the PRN broadcast of the Texas race in Spanish? This will be the first flag to flag coverage of a NASCAR race in another language. Carlos Contreras is supposed to be pit reporter, and Felix Sebates is supposed to be an analyst...Im'NOT kidding!
